As the electric two-wheeler market gains momentum, questions about battery longevity have become a common concern among prospective buyers.
In an effort to address these concerns, we, proud owners of the Ather 450, embarked on a mission to dispel doubts by conducting an in-depth range and performance test. This comprehensive evaluation, documented and shared on our Kannada YouTube channel Techiga, aimed to showcase the real-world endurance of the Ather 450 after an impressive 70,000 kilometers of use.
The wear and tear on our Ather 450 were evident, with loose body panels and broken mirrors reflecting the scooter’s extensive usage for fieldwork and daily commuting. However, as we delved into the range test, the Ather 450 exhibited remarkable resilience, surprising us with its consistent performance.
For the range test, we fully charged the Ather 450’s battery and othe scooter displayed a range of 75 km in Eco mode, 65 km in Ride mode, and 55 km in Sport mode. Throughout the test, we primarily rode in Eco mode, while navigating Bangalore city roads with busy traffic. Surpassing expectations, the scooter covered 75 km with 19 percent battery remaining, showcasing its ability to consistently offer more range than initially indicated.
Perhaps the most astonishing revelation came when the scooter continued to operate for an additional 1.1 km even after the battery percentage reached zero. Concluding the test with a total distance of 88.1 km, the Ather 450 showcased its robust battery performance even after three years and a staggering 70,000 km of usage.
