I recently had the opportunity to travel on the NueGo electric bus from Tirupati to Bangalore, and I wanted to share my experience with you all.
I have always loved the idea of travelling in an electric bus and have seen the NueGo electric bus many times on Bangalore roads. When we went to Tirupati for Balaji darshana by KSRTC bus, we opted for dharma darshana and didn’t book a return ticket. While checking for buses for our return journey, I discovered that NueGo had a service from Tirupati to Bangalore. The ticket price was surprisingly affordable, more than 50% cheaper than KSRTC Volvo buses (though prices may vary on weekends). We booked our tickets for the 10:00 pm NueGo bus.
We reached the Tirupati bus stand at 9:45 p.m, and the bus was already there with the air conditioning turned on, ready for departure.
The seats were clean and comfortable with good leg space, making it ideal for a long journey.
The bus departed exactly at 10:00 p.m, and our journey began. Each passenger was provided with a small bottle of water. The ride was smooth with no engine noise, thanks to the electric motor.
However, I did notice that NueGo could improve the quality of the shock absorbers as they made some noise from them during the journey.
Since we were already tired from the darshana, we quickly fell asleep.
Around 11:45 p.m., the bus made a stop for a charging break. During this stop, passengers had access to food, water, and clean toilet facilities.
NueGo electric buses have a range of approximately 250 kilometers, and this stop was to top up the battery.
The NueGo fast charger comes with a dual socket setup, delivering 86.8 kW each, totaling 173.6 kW. During our journey, it charged the bus battery from 65% to 73% in just 8.4 minutes, showcasing impressive charging speed and efficiency for electric bus travel.
The charging process took around 20 minutes, after which we resumed our journey.
Although the scheduled arrival time at Bangalore Majestic was 4:30 a.m, we reached at 3:20 a.m, almost an hour earlier than expected. The bus service continues up to Nagasandra, making it convenient for passengers travelling further.
Overall, my experience with NueGo was positive. The driver was friendly and even stopped where we requested, explaining the bus range and technical details, which I appreciated. The affordable fare, punctual service, and eco-friendly travel made it a great choice. I hope NueGo continues to improve its services, especially the shock absorbers, for an even better travel experience.
