Electric scooters are becoming popular, but knowing their true range is very important before relying on them for daily use. Companies show different numbers on paper, but in the real world, conditions like traffic, riding mode, and braking make a big difference.
That’s the reason many of you often ask: “How many kilometers can the electric scooter actually go in real traffic?” That’s exactly what we’re going to check.
That’s why I decided Testing the Ather 450X HR’s real-world range test on a full charge 100% to 0% range test.
🔋 Ather 450X HR Battery & Riding Modes

This scooter is equipped with a 3.7 kWh battery. At 100% charge, here’s the displayed estimated range in different riding modes was:
- Smart Eco Mode → 130 km
- Ride Mode → 105 km
- Sport Mode → 95 km
- Warp Mode → 85 km
⚡ My Test Ride Setup
For this test, I mainly used Smart Eco Mode (which showed 130 km range at 100% charge).
I also enabled Ather’s Magic Twist regenerative braking and Coasting Regen features, which help recover energy while slowing down or stopping the bike. This improves the effective range since energy isn’t wasted during braking.
The ride was done mostly inside Bangalore city traffic, because that’s where most people ride their scooters every day.
Final Results

We reached 130 km on Smart Eco Mode and still had 16 km of range left (thanks to Aggressive Regen usage, masic twist and cosating regen).
I continued riding Finally, the scooter completed a total of 147.1 km on a single charge (100% to 0%). I rode non-stop for 7 hours 12 minutes, and the scooter delivered an impressive efficiency of 47 Wh/km.

you can expect more range than what’s claimed! 🚀
👉 So, if you’re planning to buy an Ather, you can expect to more range than claimed with proper use of regenerative braking. this kind of range means fewer charging stops and more worry-free rides.
